To know who I am today, requires that I briefly share my background with you. I met my older siblings at the age of 9. Prior to that, it was just my mom and I, navigating the world alone. Because attending church weekly was our lifestyle, I honestly don't recall when I first met the Lord. For as long as I can remember, He was a package deal; live in this house, go to church, and use your gifts accordingly. My mother made sure she instilled Christian values in our lives at a young age.
In high school, my mother granted me some spiritual freedom by allowing me to visit and join non-denominational churches. This was a gamechanger for me because my passion for the Lord blossomed during those years. That passion continued throughout my collegiate career.
Like many believers, I went through my fair share of testing and didn’t always pass them. A notable one occurred a couple of years after I completed my juris doctor. My faith was tried on every end and I just couldn't catch a break. I began comparing myself to others, which led to questioning my purpose. More importantly, I began to question the existence of God and His "plan" for my life. Although I concluded that God existed, I also reasoned that He didn't have a plan for me. I told myself that he never chose me and didn't want me because if he did, life would be easier. I gave up on God.
Fast forward to 2016. After years of denying Christ, I had a special encounter that could only be traced back to Him. As a result, I rededicated my life to Christ and vowed to be used by Him for His glory.
So here I am. A pretty private individual (though based on this website alone you probably wouldn't think that), who chooses to share the goodness of God publicly. In 2021, I authored my first book, a women's devotional as an act of love and obedience and am grateful and humbled to share it with you.
My heart smiles when I speak life into others. I love God and want my life to reflect His influence. Full transparency, I'm not always as good as I can be but I try and when I mess up I acknowledge it.
When not working, I'm somewhere with family or friends, usually laughing and or singing. I enjoy volunteering, reading, listening to and composing music, and traveling. My ‘superpower’ is encouragement.
I hope you get something positive here and leave feeling uplifted. Iron sharpens iron, so lets sharpen one another.
Blessings,
-Virginia
